Where every finding comes from — and who checked it.
Veritain has no private database and no secret scoring model. We read official UK public registers, cross-check them, and show you the source and the date behind every single finding. If you want to verify us, you can.
The five registers we read
What we do, and the lines we hold
The right-hand column is the unusual one for a sales page — most of it is a list of things we could do and choose not to. It is there because it is what makes the left-hand column worth believing.
We will
- Name the source and the as-at date on every single finding.
- Have a person check anything material before it reaches you — findings to review, any sanctions match, any safeguarding signal.
- Tell you plainly when a check could not be completed, instead of calling it clear.
- Say when we were wrong, correct it, and re-issue the report free of charge.
- Give anyone named in a report a route to see it, contest it and object — without an account.
- Refund a report on the wrong company in full, and never charge you when no report is issued.
The lines we hold
- Facts, not scores — we show sourced, dated findings and let you weigh them, never a grade or a rank.
- Your decision stays yours — we inform the call with evidence; only you have the rest of the context.
- People described by the record, not by us — roles, dates and recorded outcomes; the inference is yours.
- We state only what we can stand behind — an uncertain identity match is shown as a possible match, never asserted.
- Official public record only — the registers, never bought personal data, social media or private-address tracing.
- Your check stays private — we never tell the company you looked, and record nothing against them.
What happens when a register is wrong
Public registers can be out of date, or attach a record to the wrong company or the wrong person. When that happens we want to know. Anyone can flag an error and ask a person to review it; if the finding is wrong or wrongly attributed we correct it, re-issue free of charge, and record the decision. If the register itself is wrong, that has to be fixed at source — we can annotate our report to record that it is disputed while it is.
Where we cannot corroborate that two records describe the same person, we show a possible match needing verification rather than asserting it. That is the single most important accuracy control in the product.
